Day 0: Pick-up from Lourdes train station to our hotel in Cauterets.

Day 1: 18 km, 1265 m ascent, 903 m descent, approximately 7h30 of hiking.

Day 2: 16 km, 827 m ascent, 631 m descent, approximately 6h00 of hiking.

Day 3: 14.1 km, 797 m ascent, 1576 m descent, approximately 6h10 of hiking.

Day 4: 12 km, 1634 m ascent, 689 m descent, approximately 6h40 of hiking.

Day 5: 21.3 km, 1274 m ascent, 2148 m descent, approximately 9h20 of hiking.

Day 6: 13 km, 941 m ascent, 900 m descent, approximately 5h35 of hiking, transfer to Lourdes.
MEETING POINT
You will be welcomed directly at the hotel in Cauterets. Upon arrival, a welcome drink will be offered, followed by a detailed briefing about the trek: itinerary, main stages, and weather forecast. This will be the perfect opportunity to ask any questions and finalize the last preparations before starting the adventure. You will then have free time to enjoy the evening and have dinner at your convenience.

Arrival in Cauterets
Welcome and briefing
Welcome: From 3:00 PM, participants will be welcomed at the entrance of Hôtel Bois Joli in Cauterets, the starting point of our adventure. We’ll go over the trek itinerary, followed by a welcome drink to mingle and get ready for the journey ahead.
Free time: After the briefing, participants will have some free time to pack for the trek and explore the area around Cauterets. For a relaxing experience before the trek, we highly recommend the Cauterets thermal baths, a perfect place to unwind and enjoy the healing waters.
Evening meal: Free, with the option to explore local restaurants.

Trek Overview

This trek takes you through the Pyrenees, featuring high-mountain crossings, passes, and refuges located over 2500 meters. The route includes a variety of terrains, from well-marked trails to scree and rocky sections. Weather conditions may impact certain parts (snow, patches of ice), and the itinerary can be adjusted for the safety of participants.

This trek is designed for experienced mountain hikers. Participants must be in good physical condition, capable of walking several hours a day with a backpack weighing 8–10 kg. The route includes diverse terrains with significant elevation changes and technical sections such as scree and rocky paths. Proper effort management and solid physical preparation are essential to ensure smooth progress. As the stages are long and the elevation gains considerable, early starts are crucial for recovery and to approach each day in good shape. Breaks will be functional and shorter compared to easier treks.

Itinerary Details

Duration: 6 days of hiking, with stages lasting 5–8 hours and covering spectacular landscapes.

Maximum Altitude: 3355 m at the summit of Mont Perdu.

Terrain: High mountain paths, scree, rocky sections, and off-trail segments. This trek demands proficiency in navigating technical terrains at high altitudes.

Elevation: On average, 1350 m of positive elevation gain per day, with one day potentially reaching 1950 m depending on conditions.
Group Size
6 to 10 participants: A small, intimate group for a more enriching experience and enhanced camaraderie.
Accommodation and Logistics

Bivouac (First Night): The initial night will be spent bivouacking in the wilderness, allowing for complete immersion in nature. Participants must bring their own bivouac gear (tent, sleeping bag, etc.). No showers or toilets are available, but your guide will provide the necessary equipment and instructions for basic needs.

Espuguettes Refuge: After the bivouac, this cozy refuge offers a well-deserved night of rest with sinks and toilets but no showers.

Pineta Refuge: Located in a spectacular setting, this refuge provides relaxation after a long hike. It has bunk beds and shared amenities, including hot showers.

Goriz Refuge: Situated at 2200 meters, this refuge offers stunning mountain views. Shared amenities include hot showers (at an additional cost).

Bujaruelo Refuge: For the final night, this peaceful refuge provides a calm environment to unwind before tackling the last day of the trek.
Meals

Breakfast: Provided in refuges, featuring local products (bread, jam, milk, coffee, tea).

Picnic Lunch: Prepared by the refuges, except for the first day, when the guide will provide it. Picnics consist of local products such as cured meats, cheese, fruits, bread, and sweets.

Dinner: Hot meals with local specialties served in the refuges.
Travel Logistics

Storage: A secure location will be available at the Bois Joli hotel to leave unnecessary items before departure.

Bivouac Equipment: Participants must bring their own bivouac gear.

Day 2 Adjustment: Backpacks can be lightened by leaving bivouac equipment at a secure location in Gavarnie before continuing the trek.
End of the Trek
Return to Cauterets after 12:00 PM. Participants can retrieve their belongings left at the Bois Joli hotel before heading home.
